Statute of Limitations

A statute of limitations is the legal deadline for bringing a subrogation claim; miss it and the right to recover is lost.

Also known as: limitation period, SOL

Limitation windows vary by state and by the type of loss (property, personal injury, contract). A recovery is only viable inside its window, so tracking the applicable deadline per claim and jurisdiction is a core part of prioritizing files. A strong recovery is worthless the day after it expires.
