First Notice of Loss (FNOL)

First notice of loss is the initial report of a claim to the insurer, and it is the earliest point at which a subrogation opportunity can be spotted.

Also known as: FNOL

FNOL kicks off the claim. Catching third-party liability at or near this first report, rather than months later, gives a recovery team the best chance to preserve evidence and act inside the limitation window. Much of the value AI adds to subrogation is reading files early enough that opportunities are not missed.
