A third-party administrator is a firm that handles claims (including subrogation) on behalf of insurers or self-insured organizations that outsource the work.
Also known as: TPA
TPAs process claims for carriers, self-insured employers, and captives that don't run the work in-house. Because a TPA's recovery performance directly affects its clients' loss costs, subrogation efficiency is a competitive differentiator, and a common reason TPAs adopt AI-assisted recovery.
